EMDR Intensives

Focused trauma processing in a calm, supportive, and contained setting. EMDR Intensives offer an alternative to weekly therapy for people who feel stuck, overwhelmed by stop–start work, or ready to focus on something specific in a more sustained way.

Rather than spreading trauma processing over many months, an intensive creates a protected block of time where the nervous system can settle into the work, maintain momentum, and integrate more fully.

Why choose an EMDR Intensive?

Weekly therapy can be helpful, but for some people it feels fragmented. Life interrupts, emotional material gets reopened and closed repeatedly, and progress can feel slow or unstable. An EMDR Intensive offers a different rhythm.

By working in a concentrated block, the brain is able to stay engaged in processing, often leading to:

-
less emotional build-up between sessions
-
greater continuity and focus
-
fewer repeated “restarts”
-
clearer integration afterwards

This format is often particularly supportive for people with complex trauma, neurodivergent nervous systems, or long-standing patterns that haven’t shifted with shorter sessions.

What an EMDR Intensive involves

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that supports the brain to process unresolved experiences that continue to affect you in the present.
In an intensive, EMDR is offered over several consecutive hours rather than a single short session. This allows space to go deeper without needing to pause the work prematurely or contain everything again after 50 minutes.

The work is carefully paced, with grounding, regulation, and breaks built in. This is not about pushing through or overriding your capacity.

Is this format a good fit?

An EMDR Intensive may be appropriate if:
-
you feel stalled or frustrated with weekly therapy
-
you want to focus on a specific experience, belief, or pattern
-
transitions between weekly sessions feel disruptive
-
you’re neurodivergent and benefit from continuity
-
you’ve had therapy before and feel ready for more focused processing

Not everyone benefits from an intensive format, which is why an assessment session is always required first.

How it works

Your EMDR Intensive includes:
-
a 50-minute assessment session (Tues, Weds, Thurs, or Sat)
-
an EMDR Intensive Workbook for preparation and integration
-
your in-person intensive in Norwich (NR3), with a calm, supportive setting
-
post-session integration resources
-
an optional follow-up check-in

Online intensives are available where appropriate.

This is structured, trauma-informed work, shaped around your nervous system and capacity.

Investment

The cost reflects the preparation, depth of work, and integration support involved.

Next steps

If you’re considering an EMDR Intensive, the first step is either:

-
an EMDR Intensive Assessment (50 minutes), or
-
a Therapy Suitability Call (30 minutes) if you’re unsure which option fits best

These sessions give us space to explore your goals, capacity, and whether this format is right for you at this point.
