What does working with me look like?

What happens next

Starting therapy can feel like a big decision, particularly if you’re used to managing things alone or aren’t sure what kind of support you need.

You don’t need to know which therapy approach is right for you. We begin with a 90-minute Clarity & Direction Assessment so that we can understand what is happening and decide on the most appropriate next step.

Step 1: Book a Clarity & Direction Assessment

The Clarity & Direction Assessment is a structured 90-minute appointment.

Fee: £195, including the 90-minute assessment and written summary.

It gives us enough time to explore:

  • what is bringing you to therapy now

  • the difficulties or patterns you would like help with

  • relevant experiences and background

  • what you have already tried

  • what you would like to change

  • whether my experience and approach are appropriate for your needs

You don’t need to prepare extensively or explain everything perfectly. We will work through it together.

Step 2: Complete Your Forms

Once you’ve booked, you’ll receive access to my secure client portal.

Before the assessment, I’ll ask you to complete some forms covering practical information, your current difficulties and relevant background. This helps us make the best use of our 90 minutes.

You don’t need to provide your entire life story or disclose anything you’re not ready to discuss.

Step 3: We Meet and Think Together

The assessment is a thoughtful, collaborative conversation rather than a test or an interrogation.

We’ll begin to understand what is happening now, what may sit underneath it and what could be keeping the difficulties going. I’ll also consider any relevant risks, clinical needs and whether my practice is the right setting for the work.

You won’t be pushed into detailed trauma processing during the assessment.

Step 4: You Receive a Written Summary

After the appointment, I’ll send you a written Clarity & Direction summary.

This will bring together:

  • the main themes we discussed

  • my initial understanding of what may be happening

  • the patterns or difficulties that may need attention

  • the therapeutic approach I would recommend

  • possible next steps

This might include ongoing CBT or EMDR therapy, a focused piece of work, preparation for an EMDR intensive, further assessment or support from another professional or service.

The write-up is yours to keep, whether or not we decide to work together.

Step 5: We Decide What Happens Next

If we both feel that working together is appropriate, we’ll agree on an initial focus and a suitable format.

This could include:

  • ongoing CBT or EMDR therapy

  • a focused period of therapy

  • an EMDR intensive

  • preparatory or stabilisation work

  • another specialist pathway

There is no obligation to book further therapy simply because you have completed an assessment.

Occasionally, I may recommend that another professional or service is better placed to meet your needs. I’ll be honest about this and, where possible, provide appropriate signposting.

If We Continue into Therapy

Therapy may include structured CBT, EMDR, practical changes, reflective work or a combination of approaches.

We’ll regularly review:

  • what is changing

  • what still feels difficult

  • whether the approach remains helpful

  • whether we need to adjust the focus or frequency

  • when it may be appropriate to pause or end

Therapy is not intended to continue indefinitely without direction. The aim is purposeful work that helps you understand yourself, create meaningful change and move forward more independently.

What Therapy With Me Is Like

My approach is thoughtful, active and collaborative.

I often work with people who appear capable on the outside but feel exhausted underneath—people who have learned to associate being good, helpful, productive or in control with feeling safe, accepted or worthy.

We may explore patterns such as over-responsibility, perfectionism, people-pleasing, self-criticism, difficulty resting, anxiety, trauma responses, OCD or complicated relationships with food and the body.

Some phases of therapy may involve deeper processing. At other times, we may focus on understanding, stabilisation, practical change or consolidation.

There is no expectation that you move faster than is useful or sustainable for you.

Practical Details

The Clarity & Direction Assessment costs £195. This includes:

  • a structured 90-minute assessment

  • consideration of the most appropriate therapeutic approach

  • a personalised written summary

  • recommendations for possible next steps

Assessments are available online or in person at:

Becky Grace Therapy
125 Ber Street

If we agree to continue working together, ongoing 50-minute therapy sessions cost £125.

EMDR intensives are available from £550 for three hours and require appropriate assessment and preparation beforehand.

My practice is self-funding, and I do not currently work through private health insurers.

Ready to Begin?

You don’t need to know exactly what kind of therapy you need. The Clarity & Direction Assessment is designed to help us work that out together.
