-

-
Inference-Based CBT
-
trauma- and attachment-informed approaches
-
attachment-focused EMDR
-
compassion-focused approaches
-
somatic and body-based regulation
-
parts-informed therapeutic work
-
neurodivergence-informed and sensory-aware practice
-
risk assessment, safeguarding and clinical decision-making

These approaches are used according to an individual psychological formulation rather than applied as a fixed collection of techniques.

NHS clinical experience
Between 2013 and 2023, I worked across a variety of NHS mental health services at primary, secondary and tertiary levels.

This included experience within:
-
NHS Talking Therapies services, including a London-based service
-
community mental health services
-
acute and crisis mental health services
-
specialist and tertiary services
-
Cambridge NHS Eating Disorder Services
-
services supporting people with severe and enduring mental illness
-
services working with both adults and young people

Working across different levels of NHS provision gave me experience of a broad range of presentations, from common mental health difficulties to complex, enduring and higher-risk clinical needs.

It also developed my ability to consider the wider clinical picture, including risk, physical health, safeguarding, medication, social circumstances and the involvement of other professionals.

This experience informs my judgement about when independent outpatient psychological therapy is appropriate and when somebody may require medical monitoring, multidisciplinary care, crisis provision or a more intensive specialist service.

Higher education mental health and wellbeing
I subsequently worked within the University of East Anglia’s wellbeing service for 4 years.
This role involved supporting students experiencing mental health difficulties, neurodivergence, disability and barriers to learning or participation.

It strengthened my understanding of how mental health can interact with:
-
ADHD, autism and executive functioning
-
sensory needs and environmental demands
-
academic pressure and perfectionism
-
identity and life transitions
-
masking and burnout
-
accessibility and reasonable adjustments
-
the wider systems surrounding an individual

Independent psychological practice
My current independent practice brings together my backgrounds in mental health nursing, CBT, EMDR, eating-disorder work, neurodivergence and complex clinical assessment.

I work particularly with thoughtful, highly responsible adults experiencing:
-
trauma and attachment-related difficulties
-
OCD, obsessive doubt and over-responsibility
-
perfectionism, shame and chronic self-criticism
-
burnout and emotional exhaustion
-
eating disorders and complicated relationships with food
-
neurodivergence, masking and sensory needs
-
complex or overlapping presentations that do not fit neatly into one diagnostic category
-
patterns associated with The Good Person Trap®

Many of the people I work with are therapists, healthcare professionals, leaders, helpers or others who are accustomed to being capable and responsible for those around them.
My experience across primary, secondary, tertiary, acute, crisis, community, specialist and university settings allows me to consider the whole person rather than approaching somebody through a single symptom, diagnosis or therapeutic technique.

Clinical supervision

I undertake regular clinical supervision appropriate to the different areas of my work.

Supervision supports:
-
safe and ethical clinical decision-making
-
psychological formulation and treatment planning
-
EMDR practice and progression towards accreditation
-
work with trauma and attachment
-
OCD and anxiety-related presentations
-
eating disorders and physical-health considerations
-
neurodivergence-informed practice
-
risk, safeguarding and professional boundaries
-
ongoing reflection on my own practice

I also maintain reflective practice in accordance with BABCP and NMC professional requirements.

Continuing professional development

My current and forthcoming professional development includes:

-
moral injury and its relationship with trauma, identity, responsibility and shame
-
Perimenopause, menopause, metabolic syndrome in midlife women
-
attachment-informed EMDR workshops with Mark Brayne
-
ongoing EMDR development through EMDR Association UK workshops and professional events
-
ongoing CBT development through BABCP workshops and professional events
-
trauma, attachment and complex presentations
-
OCD, including Exposure and Response Prevention and Inference-Based CBT
-
eating disorders and complicated relationships with food
-
neurodivergence-informed and sensory-aware practice
-
risk, safeguarding and ethical decision-making

I select continuing professional development according to the needs and complexity of the people I work with, supporting an integrative but clinically grounded approach.
